Hulk and the Petite One

This is my first full week of not being a student, not being an intern, not being an employee,but rather taking care of myself and being a stay at home pregnant woman.  I have cleaned the apartment about 25 times (and it still doesn't feel clean enough).  I go for walks, groom the cats, grocery shop, cook, read books, stretch, volunteer with the twins group we belong to, and meet friends for coffee dates.  Part of me is loving the free time, and part of me is going crazy.  Being busy with one, if not two jobs, plus going to school is manageable and for me and is what I know how to do.  This "relaxation" as they call it, is new territory for me, I'm almost afraid to enjoy it, and I'm sure Evan is dreading the day I say "Babe, I'm not sure I want to go back to work, maybe I should stay home with the kids."  Don't worry, it's not in my blood to not be working :) One of the things I am enjoying the most is reading a book called Trauma Stewardsh...

Mom Brain

(I had written this post a couple of months ago - and true to it's title, my "mom brain" forgot to edit and post it.  So now you get it a couple months delayed) My best friend flew into town this past weekend to spend some time alone with me a few weeks before my wedding.  We had planned to run a 5k, stay in a hotel one night so I could try to get out of the mom-zone-frame-of-mind, eat good food, drink good drinks and maybe smoke some shisha. She got into town on a Friday.  That night, we packed up and headed to the hotel.  When checking in, the woman looked up my name, she gave this head tilt and said, "hmm, you're not in our system."  I said "Yes we are, look I have my confirmation here."  she says, "oh yes maam, that confirmation is for tomorrow night."  I said "No, for tonight." she says "Look, right here, it says for tomorrow night."  Feeling like a first class idiot, I say "My mistake, do you have anythi...

6 month update

Shhh, the babies are down for a quick nap.  Today, I'm not feeling well - I have a cold and I am exhausted.  We dropped Evan off at work this morning and instead of going out for our usual walk, I brought the babies home so I could rest.  Rest.  Well, you know what I mean.  Luckily it is Friday, and Evan said he would take the babies to the farmer's market tomorrow and let me sleep... I can't wait!  The other light at the end of the tunnel, is that February is filled with visitors of the Grandparent type, so Evan and I can let the Grandparents watch the kiddos while we sleep or have a date night.  Yeay!  Speaking of date nights, our friends Cate and Nate and their baby Franky gave us tickets to the George Strait concert at the end of the month!  We are SUPER excited to go see him, but this means that we have to leave Wyatt and Olivia alone with a sitter for a few hours.  Incredibly nerve wracking!  We are using Cate and Nate's nanny...
