What's the deal with Tball?

Image
Yesterday was the twins first tball game! For most of the twins almost 5 years of life, there has been very little time when they do not have easy access to mommy or daddy.  They can always ask us questions, or look to us for direction... until tball.  There are 20 kids between the two teams, 4 are serious about the game, 7 are crying, 3 left the field and are playing in the grass in the next field over, and 6 are switching between wrestling in the infield, and picking dandelions, or piling rocks like tiny yogis.  There are about 7 adults in the infield to make sure that no one gets nailed in the face with a ball, and so the kids know where the bases are. The 4 that are actually playing are constantly looking to one of the many coaches for guidance, but it's confusing to know which coach is yours, so when the coach yells, "Run to third" about half of both teams go running to third.  They are all so excited to get the ball while fielding, that when the ball goes t...

These are a few of my favorite things

A lot of my friends are having babies.  I have been writing a million emails to friends who ask me, "what should we register for?"  "What do we need?"  Here you go, some of our favorite things.  Most of these are awesome for twins, but I'm sure they are wonderful for single babies too :) I should also note that in talking to other parents, I find that "splurge items" are different for everyone.  We choose to splurge on our stroller whereas other parents empty their accounts for the crib, organic products or whatever seems most important to them.   Favorites for Newborns 1.   Onesies - The onesies with long sleeves and mittens at the end were essential for us.  Buy a lot of them.   2.   Bibs - Bibs are NOT all the same.  We loved this one because it has a sponge ring around the neckline.  Wyatt was a big spitter, and before we had these he would get a rash around his chin/neck because we couldn't keep the moisture awa...

The Long Awaited Arrival of The World's Cutest Babies!

I don't even know where to begin writing this post.  The babies are 9 days old now, and they are sooooo wonderful!  Their little personalities are already emerging, Evan and I are having the best time getting to know them.  Yes we are struggling with sleep deprivation, but Evan and I make a great team, we split the work as much as possible.  I am learning how to get ahead while the babies sleep so that I am not frantic when they wake up at the same time and both need to be fed, changed, burped and held. Wyatt is having a hard time learning to breastfeed.  He latches on for a minute or two, but seems to not like having to do all that "sucking" work.  He prefers the bottle where the liquid basically drips into his mouth unless he pulls it out faster.  We practice with the breast, then I pump so he gets my milk and we supplement with formula. Olivia has no problem breastfeeding, she would be latched to my boob all day if she could.  Timing seem...
