By The Way...

This blog can be interactive.  You all can leave comments or questions at the bottom of each blog post.  I know you stay awake at night anxiously awaiting each of my posts, but I'm not the only one who has to do the talking :)  Sometimes I bore myself, so you can keep it interesting by telling me what you want to hear me talk about.  Or you can give us advice.  We love advice.  Right now we're winging it, so any help is good help.

A Little R&R

This past weekend my best friend Carise from Minnesota came out to visit.  We have been best friends since we were two.  As the story goes, we crawled to one another in Early Childhood class, and have been inseparable ever since.  She also happens to be pregnant and oddly enough, our due dates are 4 days apart!  I know, it blew our minds too. In the chaos of school, internship, work and being pregnant, it was wonderful to have Carise here for the weekend.  I did my best to put life on hold and become a tourist.  Carise got a hotel downtown by Union Square, because as you can imagine, our studio is not best suited for visitors to stay.  It was perfect, we walked all over the city, explored Alamo Square, Chinatown (which just so happened to be during the Chinese New Year celebrations) and Union Square.  We ate everything in sight, and soaked up as much sun as possible.  On Friday night Evan came to dinner with Carise and I.  We went to Osha Thai and had a delicious meal.  Apparently my

A long weekend

Week 14 has been relatively uneventful.  I have had a stressful couple of weeks at my internship, and the school semester is ramping up now that we're about 5 weeks in, but overall things have been good! Evan and I took advantage of the long president's day weekend, and took a cruise down the coast to Half Moon Bay.  It's a touristy beach area about an hour south of San Francisco.  We walked around main street, then down to the water and out to lunch at the Half Moon Bay Brewery.  After that we went back to the water.  Evan went to put his feet in the cold water.  He didn't gauge the waves well and one got him pretty wet.  Luckily I was sitting back on shore laughing and taking pictures. Here are some pictures from the weekend - Evan is allergic to camera's, so I have sneak a shot when I can. To finish off our long weekend, we spent today running errands.  I had to do my second trimester blood labs, so we stopped by the lab quick

Week 13 - Burst My Bubble

I was transferred to a new clinic of perinatal hematologists who were supposed to be able to better handle my clotting disorder.  My first appointment was this morning, so I arrived early and was a bit anxious about what to expect. In my head, and based on romantic comedies, I had pictured my pre-natal doctor experience to be in an office that sort of looked like I was entering someone's living room, where I would be treated and honored as a pregnant queen who was sure to be the first woman ever to give birth to twins. You might imagine my disappointment, when entering the sterile, hospital like environment.  Three bells rang when I entered the office and the doors slammed behind me like I had just entered prison.  I then had to knock on a frosted sliding window to get the attention of the receptionist.  Luckily for me, the office had just moved fully to an electronic system and the entire office was learning a new system.  Each phase of my appointment was monitored by system spe
